The General Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring that construction projects meet all required building codes, standards, and design specifications. This position is responsible for conducting comprehensive inspections of buildings, structures, and construction activities from start to finish. By reviewing architectural plans, monitoring site conditions, and collaborating with project stakeholders, the General Inspector helps maintain quality, safety, and regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction practices, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to clearly identify, document, and communicate inspection findings. They will serve as a key liaison between architects, contractors, and project teams, helping resolve construction issues and ensuring all work aligns with approved plans and industry requirements.
The General Inspector is expected to stay up to date with evolving codes and regulations, provide clear recommendations for corrective actions when necessary, and maintain thorough project documentation including permits, submittals, and inspection reports. General Inspector Responsibilities & Duties
Conduct thorough inspections of buildings and structures to ensure compliance with building codes and standards
Review architectural plans and specifications to understand the project's requirements
Identify and report any discrepancies or non-compliance issues during inspections
Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve construction issues
Assist in maintaining project documentation, including permits, submittals, and inspection records.
Participate in project meetings to provide updates on inspection progress and findings.
Prepare detailed inspection reports and documentation
Monitor construction sites to ensure work progresses according to approved plans
Verify the quality of materials used in construction
Ensure safety protocols are followed during construction activities
Provide recommendations for corrective actions to address any identified issues
Stay updated on changes to building codes, standards, and regulations
Requirements
CCM - Certified Construction Manager designation
(MANDATORY)
Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Associate's degree or relevant certification in construction, architecture, or a related field with minimum of two years' experience in architectural inspection or a related field may also be considered.
Certification from a recognized inspection or architectural body
Extensive experience in architectural inspections or related roles
Strong understanding of building codes, standards, and regulations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and strong analytical abilities
Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering plans
Strong problem-solving skills.
