Position: Full-Time Paraprofessional(s)\xe2\x80\x93 Unique Learner Educational Support
Location: Milford High School
Reports To: Principal/Special Education Administrator
Starting Date: August 2023

Qualifications:

  • Eligible for Delaware Paraprofessional Certification using one of the three options:
  • High School Diploma and Passing Paraprofessional Assessment or
  • Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher learning and accumulating at least 60 credits or
  • Associate\xe2\x80\x99s degree or higher
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position including but not limited to:
  • assisting students with mobility and transitions.
  • ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • ability to push or pull 50 pounds.
  • Experience working with students who receive special education services preferred.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Assists in a variety of instructional and behavioral support with an individual or groups of students as assigned.
  • Records data on individual students as assigned and in regards to IEP goals.
  • Assists in adapting/modifying instructional activities and materials.
  • Adjusts instructional style in response to student needs, ability or developmental level.
  • Reinforces subjects and behaviors taught by the teacher. Responds to student behavioral needs in ways which are appropriate and respectful to the student.
  • Monitors activities and behavior of children to ensure their physical and environmental safekeeping, as well as adherence to appropriate conduct and disciplinary controls.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others.
  • Assists teachers in checking and objectively evaluating progress; teaches children individually and in small groups reinforcing skills based upon instructional guidelines.
  • Works with students who receive special education services and is sensitive to the specialized needs of these students.
  • Participate in professional growth activities.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment: 7.5 hours/day - 185 days per school year. Salary and work year to be according to the current salary schedule.

Salary and Benefits: Salary range and benefits are commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with Board of Education Policy.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board\xe2\x80\x99s policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
