Founding Full Stack Engineer - Legal AI Platform
Location: New York City (onsite required; hybrid flexibility available)
Compensation: $150K+ base salary + meaningful equity
Experience Level: 1-5 years (sweet spot: ~2 years)
Team Size: ~6 engineers, hiring 2-3 more
About the Role: My client is a venture-backed legal AI startup building the future of in-house legal operations. The platform streamlines legal workflows through intelligent triage, redlining, drafting, and Q&A--empowering legal teams to deploy customizable agents tailored to their needs. With early traction across multiple design partners and a planned public launch in Fall 2025, this is a rare opportunity to join a founding team at the ground level.
As a Founding Full Stack Engineer, you'll work closely with senior engineers and technical founders to ship production-grade features across the stack. You'll own customer-facing components, contribute to architectural decisions, and grow rapidly as the company scales.
Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain React frontends and Node.js services on GCP
• Collaborate in agile workflows: write user stories, estimate tasks, and deliver shippable code
• Ensure code quality through testing, reviews, and monitoring
• Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to operational excellence
• Learn from and support lead engineers on architecture and process

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• 1-5 years full-stack experience (React, Node.js, TypeScript)
• Experience building customer-facing applications (not just internal tools)
• Familiarity with GCP or other major cloud platforms
• Strong ownership mindset and adaptability in fast-paced environments
• Interest in legal technology and startup growth

Preferred Backgrounds:

• Early-stage startup experience (Seed-Series B)
• Strong GitHub or side project portfolio
• Exposure to ML/AI or prompt engineering
• FANG or top-tier tech experience with clear startup readiness

Work Environment:

• Onsite in NYC required (office near Union Square)
• Hybrid flexibility available after onboarding
• Relocation support up to $10K for the right candidate
