We are seeking an experienced and dynamic former YMCA Director to lead and oversee community programs, manage staff, and ensure the smooth operation of organizational activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, management expertise, and a passion for community development. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and a proven track record in organizational management, team supervision, and program development.
Duties
Develop, implement, and evaluate community outreach programs aligned with organizational goals.
Lead and supervise staff, including hiring, training, employee orientation, and performance evaluations.
Manage budgeting, payroll processing, bookkeeping, and inventory control to ensure financial health of the organization.
Oversee daily operations including scheduling shifts, managing POS systems, purchasing supplies, and maintaining inventory management systems.
Coordinate marketing efforts to promote programs and increase community engagement.
Supervise retail sales activities if applicable, including pricing strategies, merchandising, stocking, and cashiering duties.
Ensure excellent customer service standards are maintained across all programs and services.
Conduct interviews for new staff or volunteers; facilitate employee training & development initiatives.
Handle administrative tasks such as phone etiquette, record keeping, and organizational documentation.
Manage store or facility management responsibilities including supervising retail or activity spaces, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
Lead team management efforts to foster a collaborative environment; provide leadership in sales management and retail math calculations as needed.
Oversee marketing campaigns to enhance visibility within the community; utilize multilingual or bilingual skills to reach diverse populations.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a YMCA Director or similar leadership role in community organizations or retail environments.
Strong management background with supervisory experience in team management and shift management.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate effectively and handle customer service interactions professionally.
Demonstrated skills in budgeting, payroll processing, bookkeeping, inventory management, purchasing, and retail math.
Experience with POS systems, cash handling, cashiering, merchandising, stock control, and sales management.
Ability to lead training & development initiatives; experience with assistant manager roles is advantageous.
Proficiency in marketing strategies; bilingual or multilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse communities.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in store or program operations; effective time management is essential.
Knowledge of administrative processes including phone etiquette and organizational skills necessary for smooth daily operations.
Leadership qualities demonstrated through previous roles involving supervision of staff or volunteers; experience in grocery store or retail management is beneficial.
