We are looking for a Forestry Field Technician/Arborist with a strong interest in arboriculture, tree risk assessments, wildfire risk reduction and utility vegetation management to be a key member of our growing professional forest management practice. Examples of potential job duties outlined below:
Performing/leading inspections, data entry, reporting, providing recommendations and project management of vegetation management.
Performing field reviews and set-up of wildfire fuels reduction projects, including performing forestry inventories and measurements.
Individual tree arboriculture assessments for tree risk, facility protection and post fire damage.
Prepare detailed arboriculture reports and plans.
Evaluate wildfire risks and prepare wildfire risk assessments/mitigation plans.
Preparation of CEQA documents, environmental reviews, designating protection measures, CDFW 1600 permits and CFPR permits.
Minimum Qualifications:
AS/BS Degree in forestry, natural resources, environmental science or closely related discipline.
International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist.
Valid Class C driver's license.
Meet at least one experience requirements below:
o Five years (5) of experience as an ISA Certified Arborist.
o Three years (3) of experience as a Forestry Field Technician.
Desired Additional Qualifications:
ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ)
ISA Utility Arborist Specialist
Board Certified Master Arborist (BCMA)
Electric utility (Distribution and Transmission) vegetation management experience.
Wildfire damaged tree assessment experience.
Tree and tree risk assessment arboriculture reports.
Forest Practice Rules, CDFW, Water Quality laws and permitting experience.
Desire to obtain Registered Professional Forester (RPF) license and/or ability to qualify to take the RPF exam within 3 years of appointment.
Wildfire fuels management and mitigation experience.
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Ability to work alone in outdoor field environment; vehicle and hiking of remote, steep mountainous locations as well as urban/city environments. Walking/hiking on various topography including flat, dry, wet, slippery, uneven, rough, steep tertian, hills and slopes, exposure to noise, dust, and all types of weather and temperature conditions. Exposure to hazardous traffic roadway conditions.
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment; walk, stand, sit and operate motor vehicles for prolonged periods of time; frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, run, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp and make repetitive hand movement in performance of daily duties. Carry, push and/pull light to moderate amounts of weight, operate assigned equipment and vehicles, ability to verbally communicate to exchange information with public, ability to see and hear in normal range with or without correction, operate assigned field equipment, including handheld computer, range finder, fire rake, water backpack pump, shovel and traffic cones.

Powers Forestry LLC offers competitive wages based on qualifications/experience. Work location is flexible with periodic travel required. Travel per diem, health insurance, company vehicle and equipment provided.
