Original Heroman's Florist is a leading Baton Rouge Retail Florist service. Our company has been in business since 1878 and has been growing steadily ever since. We are looking for Designers to join our team in Baton Rouge, LA.

The primary role of the Assistant Floral Designer is to recreate designs in our catalog and make one-of-a-kind creations for all occasions from birthdays, funerals weddings, anniversarys, and all others.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a desire to create beautiful flower arrangements on a daily basis. They must have a passion for flowers and creating a memory that will last a lifetime.

The Assitant designer is responsible for creating arrangements according to a pricelist, using good mechanics and being cost consicous of a profitablity strcuture.

Duties include:

Making sure the product is fresh and of great qaulity. Makeing sure all items requested are included Keep accurate counts of flowers being used to fill an order Follow all established designs according to the recipe and make the acceptable substitutions when required Be happy to work with flowers every day.

Key Responsibilities

:

Design and create floral arrangements for weddings, funerals, holidays, and other occasions. Consult with clients to understand their preferences, budgets, and event themes. Maintain inventory of flowers, vases, and other materials, managing stock and ordering as needed. Arrange delivery or setup of floral designs at event venues or client locations. Keep the workspace clean and organized, adhering to safety and sanitation standards. Stay updated on floral design trends, techniques, and seasonal flower availability. Provide excellent customer service, offering advice on flower care and selection.

Qualifications

:

High school diploma or equivalent; formal training in floral design or horticulture is a plus. Proven experience in floral design or a related field (portfolio may be required). Strong knowledge of flowers, plants, and their care requirements. Creative eye for color, texture, and composition. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, especially during peak seasons. Physical stamina for standing, lifting, and working with tools like shears and wire.

Work Environment

:

Primarily in the design area of the floral shop, some outside designing for weddings and events, and home and business descorating for the holidays. Flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, depending on event schedules.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 - 42 per week
