We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Fitness Center Operations Manager to lead the daily operations of our fitness facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong management skills, exceptional customer service abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of retail and fitness industry practices. This role involves overseeing staff, managing memberships, ensuring operational efficiency, and fostering a welcoming environment for members. The Fitness Center Operations Manager will play a key role in driving business growth, maintaining high standards of service, and ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning of the facility.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of the fitness center, including staff scheduling, member services, and facility maintenance
Manage employee orientation, training & development programs to ensure staff are knowledgeable and motivated
Recruit, interview, and onboard new team members to build a high-performing team
Supervise staff performance, conduct evaluations, and implement corrective actions as needed
Handle customer service inquiries, resolve member concerns promptly, and ensure high satisfaction levels
Manage inventory control for fitness equipment, retail merchandise, and supplies; oversee purchasing and merchandising activities
Maintain POS systems for membership sales, retail transactions, and cash handling procedures
Oversee payroll processing, bookkeeping tasks, and budget management to ensure financial accuracy
Implement marketing strategies to promote membership growth and retention
Enforce safety policies and ensure compliance with health regulations
Lead team management initiatives to foster a positive work environment focused on teamwork and leadership development
Experience
Proven management experience in retail sales, fitness centers, or hospitality environments with supervisory responsibilities required
Strong background in employee orientation, training & development, recruiting, and team management
Skilled in negotiation, customer service excellence, cash handling, inventory management, and POS systems
Experience with budgeting, bookkeeping, payroll processing, merchandising, marketing strategies, and retail math
Demonstrated leadership abilities with assistant manager or supervisory experience preferred
Excellent communication skills with multilingual or bilingual capabilities considered an asset
Organizational skills with proficiency in time management and administrative tasks essential for success in this role
