POSITION SUMMARY:

HIAS seeks a Financial Coach to join the Economic Integration team to provide remote financial coaching support to affiliates that are implementing HIAS\' Integrated Service Delivery bundled services to advance resettled refugee families toward economic integration, financial well-being and financial goals.

The Financial Coach\'s primary responsibility is to provide holistic one-on-one financial coaching to refugee clients. The coach will successfully build and manage trusting relationships with current and past program clients. The role involves engaging and encouraging clients to gain an understanding of personal finances. The goal of this position is to help families become economically self-sufficient through coaching, not case management. The Financial Coach is responsible for some class instruction and educational workshops but is mostly involved in working with clients in one-on-one sessions.

Note, this is a full-time, temporary position that starts ASAP and ends on September 30, 2024, with possible extension depending on funding.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develops action plans based on client\'s short and long-term goals and expands their financial capability through realistic spending, savings and debt management plans objectives.

Provides ongoing support to the client through phone calls, email and video conference sessions.

Builds strategic partnerships, nationally and locally, with financial institutions to offer clients meaningful financial products and services to assist in reaching goals.

Conducts classes and workshops and provides one-on-one counseling on financial education on topics such as improving or building credit, developing emergency savings and building assets.

Connects clients with any additional resources in the community.

Establishes and maintains trusting relationships with participants.

Maintains client confidentiality by following all security and communications standards when working with sensitive data or information.

Ensures data integrity by taking detailed notes and correctly entering all client data into the client database and periodically auditing for accuracy.

Contributes to the periodic written reports to the funder.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Undergraduate degree required.

2-3 years of relevant experience as a trained financial coach.

Experience working with refugees, immigrants, other diverse cultures and/or low-income populations.

Thorough understanding of banking services and products, as well as credit reports and scores.

Previous work on donor-funded programs preferred; knowledge of or experience with U.S. Refugee Admissions Program preferred.

Experience working with interpreters preferred.

Experience with data analysis, research and monitoring preferred.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Good proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint.

Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to meet strict deadlines.

Strong troubleshooting, communication and analytical skills.

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment to meet project deadlines.

Strong organizational skills, including multi-tasking, prioritizing, planning and effective time management.

Travel, to include travel to insecure operating environments, may be required.
