Donor Service Technician (Phlebotomist)?

Perform screenings and phlebotomy of blood donors. Includes taking vitals, asking health history questions to donors, and performing collection of blood.

Entry Level. No experience needed.

Starting Pay $17.09.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for:

\xc2\xb7 Daily operational collection functions to include donor recruitment and donor registration, screening and phlebotomy.

\xc2\xb7 Ensuring a safe, professional and pleasant procedure for every donor with a focus on customer service and producing a quality blood product in a timely manner.

\xc2\xb7 This position has the potential to cross train into the area of component processing procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

\xc2\xb7 The Donor Services Technician will register potential blood donors either at the facility or on a mobile drive, as necessary and trained to perform.

\xc2\xb7 Reviews Donor History Forms (DHF) for completeness; evaluates donors\xe2\x80\x99 medical history for suitability as a blood donor. Consults with RN/Medical Director as needed.

\xc2\xb7 Responsible for performing vital sign checks and finger stick for hematocrit. Performs confidential interview with donors.

\xc2\xb7 Verifies that the donor has read and understands the pre-post donation instructions and AIDS information sheet.

\xc2\xb7 Appropriately labels specimen tubes and blood donation bag system according to the type of donation.

\xc2\xb7 Completes donation procedure per standard operating procedures; observes donor for any adverse reaction; treats adverse reaction per SOP if one should occur.

\xc2\xb7 Must maintain proficiency in all areas of donor processing.

\xc2\xb7 Recruit and schedule potential blood donors as necessary and trained to perform.

\xc2\xb7 Performs daily, monthly and quarterly quality control procedures per standard operating procedures (SOPs).

\xc2\xb7 Maintain open and positive communication with appropriate supervisors and support services departments.

\xc2\xb7 Perform duties in compliance with all applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies. Ensure OSHA regulations and cGMP are adhered to.

\xc2\xb7 Work cooperatively with all staff to ensure a quality product and a focus on exceptional customer service.

\xc2\xb7 Maintain donor and employee confidentiality.

\xc2\xb7 Follows all pertinent SOP\xe2\x80\x99s that relate to this position; will document required information on appropriate records as needed.

\xc2\xb7 May be required to perform in other roles as trained and competent to do. This position has the potential to cross train into the following areas: Preparing standard and special blood components following SOPs, Blood Product Distribution, Blood Inventory Maintenance.

\xc2\xb7 Resolve customer complaints/issues immediately, using appropriate support departments as needed.

\xc2\xb7 Exhibits support of BBA values, quality objectives, and customer service standards at all times.

\xc2\xb7 Help maintain positive image of BBA throughout the community and State of Alaska while maintaining overall corporate image.

\xc2\xb7 Promote a positive work environment in which staff work cooperatively towards objectives.

\xc2\xb7 Must maintain a high standard for conscientious, courteous, and enthusiastic service to internal and external customers, and the public in general.
