The Department of General Services is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Facility Services Manager 1. This position gives you the opportunity to perform a variety of administrative and supervisory functions in managing, directing, and monitoring the in-house staff, vendors, and contractors involved in the custodial services, renovations, repairs, maintenance, and day-to-day operations of the Rachel Carson Building. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As the Facility Services Manager 1, you will plan, organize, direct, and supervise the maintenance repair staff on minor and emergency maintenance repairs. In this position you will summarize and prioritize the work to be accomplished and provide necessary instructions to ensure balance and constant workload. You will perform the full range of managerial duties and responsibilities including determining and coordinating training needs, scheduling, assigning, and reviewing work, evaluating performance, approving leave, handling complaints, and implementing the provisions of the AFSCME contracts. You will also have the opportunity to perform routine daily building inspections, order supplies, generate work orders, serve as building liaison for outside contracted work, and manage and participate in snow and ice removal to maintain safety to commonwealth buildings.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years as a Facility Services Supervisor (commonwealth title); or
  • Four years of routine maintenance work experience which includes two years of supervisory experience overseeing trades or building maintenance employees in a commercial, industrial, or multi-unit residential facility; or
  • An associate\'s degree in commercial property management, commercial real estate, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, HVAC, electrical technology, electronics, building automation, construction, or a related field; and two years of supervisory experience overseeing trades or building maintenance employees in a commercial, industrial, or multi-unit residential facility; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years of supervisory experience overseeing trades or building maintenance employees in a commercial, industrial, or multi-unit residential facility.
Necessary Special Requirements:
  • This position requires an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver\'s license or equivalent.
