Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

Position Summary

Parking Operations and Campus Access Management maintains four parking decks with approximately 2,600 parking spaces and an additional 5,400 spaces in surface parking lots located throughout campus. This position performs daily inspections, maintenance and minor repairs in UNCG parking facilities to maintain clean and safe access for students, staff, and visitors. This position is required to respond to adverse weather that includes snow removal from parking decks and pedestrian pathways. This position maintains parking equipment, painting equipment and pavement marking and lot striping.
Minimum Qualifications

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY; OR DEMONSTRATED POSSESSION OF THE COMPETENCIES NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE WORK. OPTIONAL GUIDELINES: EXPERIENCE IN THE TRADE AREAS RELATED TO THE AREA OF ASSIGNMENT MAY BE SUBSTITUTED ON A YEAR-FOR-YEAR BASIS.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally with supervisors and the general public and understand verbal and written instructions and other communications regarding work assignments and other matters.
  • Knowledge and skills using tools including, but not limited to, blower, power washer, drill, and paint striping machine
  • Ability to work independently
  • North Carolina driver\'s license, so DMV check will be required

Parking Lot Maintenance and Repair
Essential Tasks
  • Ability to work independently by prioritizing activities and tasks and utilizing available resources to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Clean parking lots and decks
  • Clean up parking areas during/after inclement weather including snow and ice removal, debris removal, and application of ice melting products
  • Make sure drains are free from debris to ensure proper drainage
  • Yearly pavement marking and lot striping
  • Perform the maintenance and repair of parking facilities to include the painting of signs, painting of lines, arrows, signs, curbs, streets and crosswalks, and asphalt patching and repair,
  • Responsible for cleaning/sweeping parking decks with a motorized sweeper; when scheduled for sweeping parking decks, work hours will be adjusted to 6:00am-3pm
  • Perform minor landscaping, drain cleaning, and drainage maintenance duties as needed
  • Coordinate contractor maintenance and repairs of parking lots, facilities, landscaping, and tree trimming
  • Use deck maintenance schedules to inspect the decks for maintenance issues on a set schedule
  • Meter repair

  • Assist with placement of signs, cones, barricades, and other traffic/pedestrian control devices and assist event staff as needed
  • Collect parking fees and direct traffic during special events, as needed
