The Oregon Military Department is a state agency that supports the Oregon National Guard. You are NOT required to be a member of the Oregon National Guard to apply for this position.

The Oregon Military Department is recruiting for a Facility Maintenance Specialist. This is a permanent fulltime state positions located in Baker City, Oregon.

This position is represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees\xe2\x80\x99 (AFSCME) union.

What You Will be Doing
Provide semi-skilled facility maintenance and repair, facility rental administration, and general armory cleaning to National Guard facilities, in support of the Oregon Army National Guard, and the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Branch of the Oregon Military Department, and in compliance with State and Federal laws or regulations, policies, manuals, and procedures.

Working Conditions
Exposed to loud noises; works from ladders and various types of lifting devices from heights. Exposed to unsanitary conditions. Uses cleaning chemicals several times monthly. Works in windy, cold, or inclement weather. Uses power tools; required to push, pull and lift / carry up to 50 lbs. May be required to travel using a state vehicle. Required to perform duties wearing PPE. Occasional work is required outside of normal duty hours to mitigate emergency situations. Required to bend, stoop and stand for long periods of time.

What You Need to Qualify

Two (2) years of:

a) general building maintenance

b) carpentry

c) electrical

d) mechanical

e) painting or

f) plastering experience.

**OR**

A journeyman\xe2\x80\x99s license/card in

a) general building maintenance

b) carpentry

c) electrical

d) mechanical

e) painting or

f) plastering

NOTE: Two years of experience is required in one or more of the above listed skills. It is not required to have 2 years of experience in all skillsets to qualify for a interview.

Special Qualifications/Desired Skills
General computer skills

Experience with grounds maintenance and snow removal operations.

Experience maintaining and repairing doors.

Experience maintaining and repairing plumbing.

Experience in maintenance and repair of small engines

Additional Requirements
Must have and maintain a valid Oregon driver license and good driving record.

Must comply with and have knowledge to know when, where, and how to properly wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE).

Conditions of Employment

Must have and maintain a favorable Criminal background History check and be able to obtain and maintain a favorable Department of Defense National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Suitability Determination (T1). Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude appointment, the circumstances involved in the conviction will be considered.

Employee is required to maintain a drug/alcohol free workplace in accordance with OMD Drug/Alcohol CPM\xe2\x80\x99s, Policies, and the Statewide Drug Free Workplace Policy 50-000-01.
