Job Description


The Facilities Technician is responsible for performing and coordinating the facility functions and operations of the assigned site to ensure the facilities premises meet space and environmental control requirements and complies with Federal, State and Local laws, regulations and codes. The Facility Technician will work with the site leadership and facility leadership on the maintenance of existing, and/or renovation and/or construction projects including but not limited to planning, cost estimates, budget compliance/preparation of the capital requests, contracting, project schedules and hands on project work. This position is also responsible for the reporting of project-related data for review with facility and operations management.

Responsibilities:

(60%) Coordinates day-to-day activities related to facilities services such as maintenance, repair, renovation, expansion and contraction of assigned site including budgets, and designated project management; may oversee pest control, janitorial, waste disposal, recycling program and other required facility support services engaged at assigned facilities; ensures all Facility and Maintenance work meets Smith+Nephew and/or landlord requirements; manage facility systems such as fire protection, security monitoring, badge access, expense reporting, etc. Plans and coordinates all maintenance activities involving machine moves, extended repairs, overtime, new installations, renovations, and new construction. Coordinates preventive maintenance programs for all equipment based on machine history, work order analysis by interviewing operators, maintenance personnel, team leaders, managers, and researching manuals supplied by the manufacturers. Coordinates preventive maintenance programs on all HVAC, electrical panels, buss ducts and switches, transfer switches, generators, filtering systems and light fixtures. Takes inventory of all machinery once per year and is responsible for making changes in database. Analyses, reviews, and enters all work orders on facilities equipment and general maintenance in database(s) to provide up-to-date information. Ensures that proper machine maintenance records are maintained for all facilities equipment in accordance with GMP, OSHA, TOSHA, and ISO9000 guidelines. Organizes and enters all data for the documentation for installations and/or relocations of facilities equipment. Responsible for the cleanliness and safety of the site.

(20%) Oversee vendors/contractors working on site to include site access, contractor safety, invoicing and vendor set up through procurement; processes assigned facilities operating expenses by creating PO\'s and/or coordinating expenses (p-card or systems for expenses).

(10%) Supports projects and meetings; and works with the management and staff in all departments to coordinate the schedules and resources necessary for the timely completion of facility related projects. Maintains reports and publishes pertinent information for Directors, Group Managers, Team Leaders, and other support personnel. Works with engineers and others to establish and optimize PM program.

(5%) Leads energy and waste/recycle efficiency initiatives supporting program updates, reporting and tracking; works closely with the Global Facilities team on group facilities projects, changes and responses.

(5%) Supports HSE for the site Facilities related actions and tasks such as inspections, Emergency Response Plans, BCP, reporting incident, standard operating procedures, and safety training. Works with internal and external auditors and provides the research for corrections.

Education:

Minimum High School or equivalent; certified training in technical field preferred; and/or college is a plus (civil, mechanical, or industrial engineering; electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or related disciplines); and a combination of related education and 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Facilities/Construction and/or Project work.

Licenses/ Certifications:

None required, but specialty licenses or certification a plus

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in facility operations; construction projects and/or facilities management. Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations required. Experience working in a database environment with data entry and asset management. Mainsaver BMS experience a plus; Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications including but not limited to Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Knowledge of safety equipment and building maintenance requirements (like Mainsaver) including HVAC, switches, filtering systems, and tool room processes

Competences:

Strong facility management and experience required; ability to balance tactical day-to-day issue with strategic positions and objectives required; strong work history of executing in a customer driven work setting; experience working with cross functional teams through project completion; experience with managing a team of outside-contract trade professionals;

good problem solving and conflict resolution skills; strong written and verbal communication skills; Project Management (including budget planning) experience required; Microsoft Office skill required; AutoCAD and Visio skill preferred.

Physical Demands:

Requires standing/walking/sitting 80 percent of the time. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted and greater than 50 pounds with assistance. Requires the ability to travel on aircraft, by car, bus, boat or other common transportation means. Require use of hands and arms to operate computers, copy machines, fax machines, telephones, and other equipment involved in the manufacture of the product. Requires the ability to hear and understand verbal communication. Visually perform essential functions for satisfactory job performance and safety. Requires up to 1/3 of the time working near manufacturing equipment. The noise

level in the working environment is usually moderate and seldom excessive. Potential exposure to excessive heat and cold. Requirement to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for work environment to include but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hat, hearing protection and/or respiratory protection.
