The Role



The Eye Care Assistant position is a key role within the Fall River Vision patient care team, supporting patients and staff through every step of their eyecare journey. This role focuses on providing warm, personalized service, ensuring every patient feels seen and cared for.

The Eye Care Assistant supports the Front Desk, Billing and optical shop Optician as needed, cheerfully greeting patients, supporting check in/check out, scheduling appointments, insurance pre-check and referral requests, and providing phone support. The Assistant provides over-flow support for optical, helping with glasses pickup and order management to keep our optical running smoothly and efficiently.

Experience in a medical or optometry office is preferred but not required -- we're happy to train the right person who brings enthusiasm, professionalism, and a willingness to learn.

What You'll Do



Welcome patients and answer phones professionally Schedule and confirm appointments; manage messages and emails Verify insurance and collect copays/balances Prepare and balance the daily cash drawer Maintain accurate patient information and documentation Ensure patients understand their financial responsibility Support billing with eligibility checks and authorizations Cross training in other roles and responsibilities as needed to support our small office Check in all completed jobs from the lab and tag items for pickup Notify patients their glasses are ready for pickup. Help support optical team members as needed, including verifying insurance coverage for eyewear benefits

What We're Looking For



Outstanding customer service and communication skills; friendly, patient, and supportive demeanor. Detail-oriented and organized. Adept at learning new skills and using critical thinking Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. Patience and tmpathy when on the phone or working with patients Computer and math skills/ability to work efficiently with EMR and cash drawer High school diploma or equivalent.

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
