Job Description

A busy ophthalmology practice in Columbus is looking for a full-time Ophthalmic Assistant.

Responsibilities Include:

Assisting the physicians and optometrists with patient care and testing.

Screening patients, taking medical history and vision testing

Knowledge of and ability to use patient testing and diagnostic equipment

Assisting patients through the office for required testing

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the eye and disease processes affecting it

Knowledge of aseptic technique, sterilization and handling of instruments

Assisting the physicians with laser and surgical procedures in compliance with OSHA guidelines

Scribing for the physicians, entering complete and precise information into the patient's medical record

Handle patient telephone calls and medication refill requests

Care and maintenance of office equipment and instruments

Patient education, to include pre and post operative education

Ability to multi-task

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Refract patients as needed

Demonstrates punctual, regular, and predictable attendance

Qualifications:

Candidates should be a High School graduate or equivalent.

Previous medical office experience required.

Certification as an ophthalmic assistant/technician is preferred.

Requires good visual acuity to read patient charts, practice documents, and medical and office equipment.

Good grammar and communication skills are essential. Handwriting must be legible.

Pay is based on experience within an optometry or ophthalmology office and/or combination of field of higher education.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
