We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Experienced Direct Support Professional to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or other health challenges. This vital role involves assisting residents with daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting independence within a supportive environment. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in home and community care settings, possess strong caregiving skills, and demonstrate a genuine commitment to improving the lives of those served.
Responsibilities
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
Monitor and observe patients' health status, including vital signs and overall well-being
Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations
Support residents with meal preparation, cooking, and nutritional needs
Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or other cognitive impairments
Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and perform heavy lifting when necessary to ensure safe transfers
Maintain accurate documentation of care activities and resident progress in compliance with HIPAA standards
Follow individualized care plans developed by healthcare professionals or social workers
Engage residents in social activities to promote mental and emotional well-being
Ensure a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks as needed
Respond promptly to emergencies using CPR or first aid skills when required
Qualifications
Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments
Knowledge of patient care techniques including medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and dementia or Alzheimer's care
Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred
Experience with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in providing compassionate care
Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and safety assessment
Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and assist with mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and healthcare teams
Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable
Compassionate attitude with a focus on person-centered care and enhancing quality of life
