Key Responsibilities

Receive, inspect, verify, and accurately document incoming medical supplies, equipment, and materials, ensuring timely processing for payment and distribution. Coordinate deliveries and pickups using hospital vehicles, including local purchasing and travel outside the immediate service area as needed. Maintain organized, clean, and efficient warehouse and receiving areas with attention to detail and accuracy. Support hospital departments by filling and delivering stock requisitions, specimens, mail, and expediting airport and post office runs. Comply with departmental policies, quality assurance standards, safety regulations, and infection control practices while performing other assigned duties.

Knowledge and Experience

High school diploma required; 2-3 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare environment preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical supplies, and equipment. Strong clerical and organizational skills with the ability to accurately process documentation and maintain records. Proficiency in operating general office equipment, including computers, fax machines, copiers, postage machines, and scales. Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to operate a standard-shift 4-wheel-drive pickup. Ability to communicate courteously and professionally with patients, staff, providers, and community partners.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting of boxes up to 50 pounds.

The South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed Acute Care Critical Access Hospital and 28-bed Long Term Care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula in South-Central Alaska. The Expediter works primarily in the warehouse receiving and shipping area and follows a typical Monday-Friday daytime schedule, with occasional overtime or adjusted hours to meet hospital needs.

Job hazards may include exposure to moving equipment, delivery vehicles, heavy lifting, and a fast-paced warehouse environment requiring strong situational awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
