Job Title: Executive Steward

Location: Memphis, TN

Reports To: Director of Food & Beverage

Job Overview:

The Executive Steward is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the stewarding department a luxury hotel with 464 guest rooms, 16 meeting rooms, and 4 restaurants. This position includes managing the kitchen and dining room areas, supervising a team of stewards and dishwashers, and ensuring all equipment and supplies are maintained at a high level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the stewarding department, including coordinating with other departments to ensure smooth service and cleanliness.
  • Hire, train, and supervise a team of stewards and dishwashers, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure all areas are kept clean and hygienic.
  • Ensure all equipment and supplies are properly maintained and organized, including china, glassware, flatware, and kitchen equipment.
  • Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment, and order additional items as needed.
  • Oversee the operation of the hotel\'s dishwashing machines, ensuring they are maintained and working efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records of all stewarding-related activities, including work orders, inventory levels, and staff schedules.
  • Work with the Director of Food & Beverage and the Executive Chef to ensure all kitchen equipment is functioning properly and repairs are made in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and standards, including OSHA and FDA guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as banquets and housekeeping, to ensure smooth operations and seamless service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Food & Beverage.
Requirements

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in hospitality or related field preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory role in a kitchen or stewarding department, preferably in a luxury hotel or restaurant.
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safety guidelines for handling food, cleaning chemicals, and equipment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Availability to work weekends and evenings, as needed.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift and move heavy objects, and work in hot and humid environments.
