About the Position:

This position is located in the Department\'s Office of Eligibility and Support Services (OESS).

The Office of Eligibility and Support Services (OESS) serves low-income families and individuals facing significant challenges in meeting basic needs including food, medical coverage, and childcare. OESS determines eligibility for Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA); Temporary Disability Assistance Program (TDAP); Refugee Cash Assistance; Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP- formerly known as Food Stamps); Medical Assistance for the Aged, Blind, and Disabled (including long-term care); and the Affordable Care Act which includes Community Medical Assistance, Maryland Children\'s Health Program, Medical Assistance for Families and Children, and Refugee Medical Assistance.

OESS provides these services on behalf of the State of Maryland Department of Health and Human Services. In addition, OESS determines eligibility for the County\'s healthcare for the uninsured services (Maternity Partnership, Care for Kids, Senior Dental Program, and Montgomery Cares).

The Executive Administrative Aide serves as the first line supervisor of over six (6) Administrative Support staff overseeing support services for Income Supports including reception for co-located programs. This position is an integral part of the OESS office management team.

  • Plans, assigns, schedules, supervises, and reviews the work of subordinate office support staff.
  • Develops, modifies, and monitors office procedures.
  • Participates in and makes recommendations on a variety of personnel actions, including employee selection, promotion, performance appraisals and disciplinary measures. Orders office supplies and monitors supply budget.
  • Responsible for validating payments for temporary/contractual staff.
  • Monitors EBT program.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $52,453 (minimum) - $82,436 (maximum)

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Five (5) or more years of administrative aide experience.

Education: Graduation from high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland.

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of experience and education may be substituted.
Preferred Criteria

There is no Preferred Criteria. All applicants will be reviewed by OHR for minimum qualifications. Those applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be rated Qualified, placed on the Eligible List, and may be considered for an interview.

Preference for interviews will be given to applicants with experience in the following:
  • Knowledge of E&E, SVES, MMIS or a similar eligibility system
  • Knowledge of Income Support program policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of and experience in all facets of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge Income Supports Programs
  • Customer service experience dealing with diverse situations and contacts
  • Experience directing employees and meeting customer needs, including experience in team building, preparing statistical and narrative reports on unit operations to monitor unit performance and to keep departmental management informed regarding unit productivity
