We are searching for a highly motivated, dependable, and experienced Excavation Superintendent who leads with integrity, accountability, and a commitment to safety and quality. The right candidate thrives in the field, communicates effectively across teams, and ensures every project is executed safely, efficiently, and according to plan. This role requires strong technical knowledge of excavation procedures and equipment, the ability to adapt to changing jobsite conditions, and a focus on maintaining positive client relationships through professionalism and performance.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPISH AND EXPERIENCE:

Oversee and coordinate the daily field operations of BWC's Excavation and Industrial projects in the Cedar Rapids, IA area, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to BWC's quality standards. Partner with the Estimator to review bids and blueprints/drawings, confirm project profitability, and develop comprehensive project timelines and job plans that effectively allocate personnel, equipment, and resources. Lead and manage field crews; including Laborers, Operators, and Foremen by setting clear expectations, providing on-site guidance, training new hires, managing performance, and fostering a culture of accountability and safety. Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients, maintaining clear communication, addressing needs promptly, and ensuring all services meet or exceed client expectations. Monitor and manage equipment performance and maintenance needs to support reliable and efficient operations. Use company systems and software, including Foundation, to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of project costs, budgets, purchase orders, and job progress. Review and approve timecards and job assignments to ensure proper billing, payroll accuracy, and job accountability. Conduct site visits with current and potential customers to assess project requirements, provide estimates, and build relationships that support BWC's continued growth. Support the Safety team in promoting and enforcing safety policies, ensuring compliance with all BWC and OSHA standards. Respond promptly to after-hours project needs, emergencies, or client issues as required. Provide regular progress updates to leadership regarding project status, resource allocation, and budget performance. Support a positive team culture built on respect, communication, and accountability.

DESIRABLE PREVIOUS QUALIFICATIONS

:

Demonstrated leadership experience within the Construction Management, Excavation, or Industrial Services industries. Strong understanding of excavation procedures, heavy equipment operation, and OSHA safety guidelines. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and crews in a fast-paced, changing field environment. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills with a solutions-oriented mindset. Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork, accountability, and client satisfaction. Proficiency with project management tools and construction software (Foundation experience preferred). Willingness to travel to job sites and respond to after-hours project needs as required.
