Position Summary:

This Events Assistant will work with the Guest Experience team and as support to the Rental & Events Manager. This position will oversee and support the Zoo's private rentals and public events, including corporate rentals, weddings, and public events including but not limited to Boo at the Zoo, Garden Party, Brews at the Zoo and Family Fun Fest.

Essential Job Functions



Assist the Events and Rentals Manager in setting up full facility rentals, corporate events, weddings, and other rentals. Assist in the preparation and execution of Garden Party, Brews at the Zoo, Family Fun Fest, Boo at the Zoo, and Zoo Lights. Serve as the point of contact for rental clients and be onsite day of to coordinate event details. Work with the Food and Beverage team to put out catering and bars for rentals and events. Support the Events and Rentals Manager with logistical and administrative duties, as needed. Attend various detailed information meetings and tours and serve as a second point of contact. Process event and rental bookings and payments. Maintain accurate rental and event records. Complete projects as assigned in a timely manner. This position will assist with membership management during the off season (winter months). This includes corporate membership, and any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Must have a flexible schedule, as this role supports events and rentals that regularly run into evenings and weekends throughout the year; some early mornings are required. Must have experience executing events and private rentals from the ground up, including setup, coordination, and tear down. Must be comfortable supervising teams at times, including giving direction and feedback; ability to be firm but fair. Must be open to feedback and ideas, communicative, self-motivated, and able to show strong initiative while working within a large team. Must have experience with computer systems, including Microsoft Office Suite; this role will assist with building events within the Zoo's event database and use a multitude of Microsoft programs. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must be willing to obtain and maintain certifications in CPR, First Aid, and AED use; Pool Operator certification; and bartender and/or food handler certification. At least 19 years of age.

Physical Requirements



This position must be able to walk, move, and stand for long periods of the day and may occasionally lift to 50lbs.
