The position of Technical Writer \xe2\x80\x93 Electrical Engineering (\xe2\x80\x9cTW\xe2\x80\x9d) will be part of the growing Project Delivery Team and report to the Manager of Technical Writing. The TW is responsible for the creation and maintenance of documentation for Energy Storage products and system design. This will include documentation for product manuals, service and maintenance procedures, technical bulletins, Customer interfacing documents, data sheets, etc. The TW will develop complex subject matter into leadership articles for the electrical engineering and manufacturing community, as well as the general Energy Storage industry.
Applicant should have a solid understanding of fundamental electrical engineering, project management, and construction, service, and maintenance principals, as well as experience with high-power electrical systems. This position will be a member of Wartsila\'s internal and customer technical Subject Matter Expert Team for ESS Products and Projects and will work closely with the following group: Software Delivery, Product Delivery, Project Management, Commissioning Managers, site personnel, and other various groups to ensure ESS projects fulfill customer functionality and contract requirements.

• Location: US \xe2\x80\x93 Work from Home

Minimum Skills Requirements:

• Education: Minimum Bachelors or master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Power Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience with renewable energy (Solar Utility Scale) and/or Energy Storage System, Power System Design, Communication Network, and minor Software.

Job-Specific Responsibilities:

• Develop documentation that promotes self-service and efficiency for our end-users and internal employees.
• Establish and maintain engineering design criteria, applicable standards and specifications for ESS projects.
• Read and understand electrical and (or) mechanical drawings, submittals, specifications, and sequence of operations.
• Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)/ method statements for use by the Operations and Maintenance staff.
• Work with System Engineers, Project Engineers, and other department members to establish technical requirements and to determine subject material to be developed.
• Review documents and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods.
• Review project technical specifications and provide feedback to ensure that project requirements will be met.

Additional Job Requirements:

• Understanding of DETA standards and publication software is a plus.
• Familiar with modular style writing.
• Familiar with lithium-ion battery systems
• Familiar with relevant codes and standards for ESS and inverters (NEC, IBC, IFC, NFPA, UL, IEC)
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate highly complex engineering, construction, and operational concepts.
• Experience and comprehension of CAD drawings
• Experience with utility-scale energy storage and renewable energy projects and products (bi-directional inverters, various battery chemistries, PV, wind turbines, flywheels, etc.).
• Understanding of Inverter, Converter, Transformer, Battery, Circuit breaker, Fuse, AC/DC power supply electrical equipment.
• Understanding of utility generation project engineering, construction, and commissioning practices.
