Overview:
TRC is seeking highly motivated and diverse Environmental Intern for our Summer 2026 intern program out of our Ann Arbor, MI Office. This is a paid full-time position. Anticipated duration will be from June through August 2026 (flexible). This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders and partner with engineers, scientists, and technologists.
Responsibilities:
The position will assist with the following activities:Management of subcontractors and oversight/documentation of construction activities
Permit development and support
Collection of field data and evaluation of sample results including generation of tables and figures to illustrate collected data
Site characterization and technical evaluations regarding sources, transport, and fate of groundwater and soil contamination
Development of remediation alternatives evaluations and bid specifications
Remediation and/or wastewater treatment design support
Determination of the potential chemical impacts and development of recommendations in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate shall possess the following attributes:Pursuing a degree in Engineering and/or Geology with environmentally focused coursework. Previous internship experience with environmental consulting firm is preferred but not required.
Excellent communication and writing skills, with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple deadlines for multiple Project Managers.
Fluency with Microsoft Office software is mandatory, and fluency with Python, gINT, Log Plot, MATLAB, and/or ArcGIS or other civil and environmental engineering software applications is preferred but not required.
Solid technical and problem-solving skills must be willing to accept occasional short field assignments and must have a valid driver's license.
Candidate possessing a 40-hour HAZWOPER health and safety training certificate or an up to date 8-hr annual refresher course certification is preferred but not required. Candidates without current certification or without prior 40-hr training will receive appropriate safety training necessary to perform internship duties.
