Job Description





Coordinate and implement SHCC\xe2\x80\x99s English Enrichment Program (EEP) as the lead teacher in one of our three elementary-aged EEP classrooms. As an English enrichment educational summer program for Elementary School aged students, this position will ensure the curriculum meets state and program standards as well as engages program participants in educational activities. This program offers students continuity of linguistic and mathematic learning through the summer, supporting a foundation for continued learning.

Classification: Exempt, Seasonal
Reports To: Elementary Program Director
Hours/Duration: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
The program operates from June 20th through July 21, 2023


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement lesson plans for your classroom, providing developmentally appropriate learning experiences that foster a linguistic and mathematical foundation for students.
  • Ensure program curriculum supports academic and social needs of participating youth, adapting curriculum and support to meet individualized needs of students.
  • Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging for youth.
  • Support students in making positive behavior choices by observing student behavior, assessing its appropriateness, and applying appropriate behavior management techniques, positive redirection, or appropriate corrective action as necessary.
  • Promote healthy choices, prosocial behavior, and a growth mindset among students and staff.
  • Work with all SHCC staff and partners to ensure program safety and a supportive environment.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with fellow EEP Teachers and Assistants.
  • Collaborate with the classroom\xe2\x80\x99s Assistant Teacher, keeping them informed of the curriculum and individualized support for students.
  • Support with the transition of students walking to SHCC Elementary Summer Camp at Sustainability Academy and/or being picked up at end of EEP.
  • Identify performance targets for each group/class.
  • Maintain classroom curriculum and related documentation, including end-of-program report, and submit to Elementary Program Director.
  • Accurately complete and submit incident reports, attendance, receipts, and other program-related materials in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with Elementary Program Director regarding program supplies needed.
  • Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in staff and student matters.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all program areas; assist with the setup and breakdown during program day to contribute to ongoing maintenance in an effort to keep the space clean and orderly.
  • Ensure all program activities and operations adhere to Vermont Licensing Regulations for Afterschool Child Care Programs.
  • Accept the role and responsibilities of being a mandated reporter for child abuse/neglect.

Qualifications:

Education: VT Teacher Licensure, preferably with English as a Second Language or English Language Learner endorsement. At least one year of teaching experience is required.

Salary

$26 - $30 per hour
