NIKE is a technology company. We invest and develop advances in technology and employ the most creative people in the world, and then give them the support to constantly innovate, iterate and serve consumers more directly and personally. Our teams are innovative, diverse, multidisciplinary and collaborative, taking technology into the future and bringing the world with it!

Have you ever wondered what the carbon footprint is for a pair of sneakers or a shirt? How does reusing the waste materials from factories change how sustainable a pair of shoes is? How much more sustainable is it to make apparel using recycled polyester that came from recycled plastic bottles, as compared to virgin polyester?

Product Creation contributes to the majority of Nike\xe2\x80\x99s carbon footprint, based on the manufacturing and processing of the materials that go into our products. Product Creation has tremendous influence over reducing Nike\xe2\x80\x99s carbon footprint, by publishing carbon footprint data in our Design, Development and Merchandising technology products. Nike\xe2\x80\x99s Designers, Tech Developers and Merchandising teammates are eager to access this data, in order to make decisions that have significant impact on the sustainability of millions of pairs of shoes and shirts. Today, this sustainability data is either not available to them, or difficult and time consuming to access.

Sustainability technology is a nascent field with a sense of urgency. Nike\xe2\x80\x99s leadership is investing in this area to make an impact on people and the planet.

What you will work on

We have defined a multi year sustainability strategy. One near term deliverable is automating the validation of recycled content in Nike\xe2\x80\x99s Move to Zero products. Consumers have been embracing Move to Zero products by voting with their wallets. We need automation to enable the scaling of this business. Building a centralized sustainability calculator that generates sustainability scores for each Nike product is going to be another key project. This calculator will be seamlessly integrated into the spectrum of technology products used for designing and merchandising Nike products globally.
