The Engineer is responsible for design and development of mechanical and electrical systems on new and existing products. Scope of work includes planning and coordination of prototype fabrication, testing and documentation in accordance with applicable codes and standards. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in new design/modification prototype testing to ensure product design and functionality meets regulatory standards
Conceptualize, plan, organize, and conduct detailed mechanical and electrical designs
Create engineering CAD drawings, schematics, BOMs and BOOs; document design and technical data using accepted engineering practices
Manage projects through the design, development, manufacturing, and installation phases including defining design requirements and managing the schedule
Effectively communicate concepts and design through presentations, reviews, and team meetings
Interact closely with engineers, suppliers, customer service, manufacturing, and quality to solve problems
Work with customers to determine requirements and provide responses to customer requests
Provide information and support to the manufacturing department as needed
Generate and execute engineering change requests (CRs) as described in the company\xe2\x80\x99s CR process
Adhere to all safe work practices and contribute to the health, safety, and environmental program and culture
Make every effort to focus on doing-it-right to make sure the customer is happy or satisfied with our units
Provide value to our customers by using Lean tools and concepts to identify and eliminate waste in all forms (scrap/rework, transportation, motion, waiting, inventory, over production, over processing, and under-utilization of people). Uses systemic thinking by seeing processes from end to end and works to challenge the status quo to eliminate the root cause of problems. Is involved in individual and/or team activities that involve using Lean tools and concepts to improve the flow of information and material.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift materials and parts weighing between 30-40 lbs. occasionally (10%-20% of the time)
Must be able to work on elevated stands, climb stepladders and work in a standing position occasionally (25% - 35% of the time)
Must be able to work at a computer for up to 100% of the time
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
BS Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related field of Engineering
Minimum 3 years relevant, work-related experience
Effective technical skills to translate concepts from others into detailed design
Problem-solving skills
Creativity
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Competent with basic electrical test and measurement equipment
Works well in a team environment
3D CAD experience (Solid Edge preferred)
Project management experience required.
NRTL experience a plus
Hands-on wiring and assembly
PLC experience
Embedded systems
Sheet metal experience
