What part will you play?
GAF Energy is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer that will work on the design, installation, and upkeep of PLC based controls in a manufacturing environment
You will report to the New Product Deployment Manager and work within a cross-functional team to develop robust automated manufacturing processes

What will you do?
Manage the design and installation of electrical/electronic equipment, including electrical power distribution systems, PLCs, instrumentation, HMIs, and integration with MES
Work with multiple equipment vendors to ensure timely installation and proper operation of all solar module production equipment
Cross-collaborate with members of the R&D, Reliability, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams
Maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot factory control systems
Write and update all documentation pertaining to electrical equipment/ systems (reports, work instructions, training manuals, etc.)
Train operators and engineers to use HMIs for standard tasks (data entry, material tracking, etc)
Design, draw, and supervise the fabrication of custom automation solutions for future process needs
Design, deploy, and maintain custom GUIs for operator data entry
Collaborate with overseas equipment support engineers
What do we require from you?
BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent and 7+ years of work experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
Proficiency with Siemens PLC hardware and software
Proficiency with Wonderware/AVEVA products
Experience maintaining automated inline processing tools
Experience troubleshooting PLC control logic for standard solar module production equipment (stringers, pick-and-place layup, laminators, trimmers, conveyors, etc.)
Experience working with and troubleshooting barcode readers
Written Mandarin Chinese language skills a plus
Experience working in cross-functional teams to drive innovation, product and process development and a demonstrated ability to articulate design trade-offs based on customer requirements
Proven record of handling multiple priorities, organizing workload, and meeting commitments
Willing and able to travel within the US and globally, up to 25% of your work time
Low-ego team player who thrives on a fast-paced environment
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external functional teams verbally, in writing, and via presentations
Impeccable attention to detail, a process-oriented mindset, and excellent time management skills
Self-motivated, proactive, and efficient
Expectation for the role is to reside in either San Jose, CA or Georgetown, TX and travel between locations as required up to 50%
Benefits and Compensation:
Individuals hired for this position can reasonably expect a base salary within the range of $120,000 - $160,000. The company provides comprehensive health and retirement savings plan benefits that support an employee\'s total well-being.
