What part will you play?

GAF Energy is seeking a Failure Analysis Engineer to help determine the root cause of product failures.

You will report to the Principal Reliability Engineer, and work cross-functionally with R&D and Manufacturing to identify the root cause of failures and improve the overall product reliability. You will join a dynamic team of reliability engineers and scientists that are focused on understanding and improving the reliability of GAF Energy\xe2\x80\x99s products.

You will be responsible for applying established failure analysis techniques and procedures to determine the root cause of failures. You will be responsible for collecting and analyzing the resulting data, and presenting the findings to cross functional teams in a timely manner. You may also be required to recommend corrective actions based on your findings.

What will you do?

Performance degradation analysis due to stress and aging

Characterize Photovoltaic cell degradation due to various environmental stresses

Conduct root cause analysis of electrical interconnect degradation and failure

Conduct root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical components, and electrical interconnects failures

Perform analysis of material properties degradation, both cosmetic and structural

Analyze and determine the root cause of manufacturing process related failures

Organize, publish and present findings

What do we require from you?

BS in an Engineering or Physics discipline

Minimum 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience as a failure analyst

Extensive experience conducting hands-on root cause failure analysis

Demonstrated ability to work under demanding schedule and workload conditions

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required

Highly skilled in deductive reasoning

Impeccable attention to detail, a process-oriented mindset, and excellent time management skills

Self-motivated, proactive, and efficient

Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills

Capable of organizing time and scheduling, skilled at project management

Demonstrated ability to managing multiple time sensitive projects concurrently

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external functional teams verbally, in writing, and via presentations

Understands methods of replicating failures under controlled laboratory conditions.

Broad experience with various materials associated with product

Polymers and elastomers

Electrical connectors and contacts

Glass

Solders and Adhesives

Electrical Components

Photovoltaic Cells

Diodes

Experience with metrology, experimental instrumentation, and equipment calibration.

Experienced with Reliability Engineering techniques

Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

Design of Experiment (DoE)

Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)

Critical to Reliability (CTR)

Demonstrated understanding of the manufacturing processes, methods, practices, environments, etc., associated with high-volume consumer products

Physical Requirements

Must be able to wear safety equipment and perform work in a production environment.

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Ability to walk, lift, carry, grasp, bend, reach, kneel, climb stairs and ladders is required.

Ability to work in standing operations for long periods of time is required.

Specific vision abilities including close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus is required.

Benefits and Compensation:

Individuals hired for this position can reasonably expect a base salary within the range of $100,000 - $140,000. The company provides comprehensive health and retirement savings plan benefits that support an employee\'s total well-being.
