is responsible for administering the educational program of New Vineyard Academy to promote the educational development and achievement of students in accordance with Mississippi Department of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules, and regulations. The Classroom Teacher will nurture the spiritual lives of each student from the very beginning of their Christian journey. He or she will be Christ-led and strive to develop students in achieving educational and spiritual excellence. The Classroom Teacher will work closely with the Classroom Assistant and Academy Director to provide leadership in program development and improvement to the students, as well as participating in professional staff development training. The Classroom Teacher will provide the appropriate learning atmosphere and activities designed to maximize students educational and spiritual competencies: intellectual comprehension and emotional, physical, social, spiritual skills. This role reports directly to the Principal.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the
Classroom Teacher
are (but not limited to):
Demonstrating knowledge and understanding of curriculum development and program evaluation, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, positive classroom management, learning assessment and diagnoses.
Fulfilling the mission of the academy by planning, guiding, and evaluating the learning process of each student by using effective methods and models to engage learning.
Planning for curriculum and Christian-based instruction and using the appropriate materials and resources for the students.
Using various methods of assessments to gauge student comprehension and engagement.
Supporting and adhering to the New Vineyard Academy and New Vineyard Church missions, values, and philosophies by modeling the teachings of God.
Establishing and promoting high standards and expectations and exhibiting genuine love and care for God's children.
Notifying the Academy Director and Principal immediately of evidence of severe medical emergencies, child abuse or neglect, substance abuse, or situations that arise amongst parents, students, and educational staff.
Acting as a Christ-like role model to students, parents, academy educational staff, and the community.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
Skills
Proven experience as a Teacher
Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
Excellent communication and instructional skills
Ability to act as mediator between children
Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen
Certification in child CPR
BSc/BA in education or relevant field
Valid licence to practice profession
