Job Description

Fox Valley Montessori School is currently seeking a part-time Art Teacher for our Elementary program beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. This individual will be responsible for fostering appreciation of art and guiding the development of art skills in children ranging in age from 6 to 12 years old. The ideal candidate will be flexible, organized, and patient. They will possess strong communication skills, exhibit developed classroom management skills, and will collaborate with teachers and other staff members to support the children in their positive development. Candidates should have classroom experience teaching art classes for multi-age classes, a 6-9 year old class and 9-12 year old class. The candidate would lead two hour-long sessions per week, one for each class.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Lead two on-hour long classes each week. Prepare and implement an art curriculum that encourages independent artistic creativity using learned methods and mediums. Offer opportunities to use different artistic mediums, methods, and techniques. Plan and organize sharing opportunities that demonstrate student learning. Use appropriate classroom management techniques to support the students. Collaborate and communicate with the Classroom Teachers to establish routines that best meet the needs of the students, the classrooms, and the individual.

Qualifications:

? Experience with art and a knowledge of basic art concepts is required. A Degree from an accredited college or university with a focus on art/art education is preferred.

? Proficient skill in multiple mediums preferred

? Willing and able to work with children from 6 to 12 years old

? Able to supervise and manage a group of children safely and respectfully

? Independent organization skills

? Strong communication skills

? Open to collaboration with other staff members

? Must be able to pass a routine criminal background check and state fingerprinting

? Must be able to maintain regular and routine attendance during the hours expected

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
