We are seeking an experienced Radiometric Calibration Engineer/Electro-optical instrument scientist to work in the area of electro-optical sensor calibration on space flight sensor programs. Intermediate and senior level positions are being considered. Entry level may also be considered, with appropriate educational background and demonstrated abilities consistent with General Minimum Requirements provided below.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Technical experience/understanding of passive remote sensing and metrology
  • Technical experience/understanding of radiometric calibration principles including: radiometric modeling and prediction, E-O test planning, E-O test procedure writing, E-O test execution, data processing and analysis for derivation of E-O performance parameters, uncertainty analysis and error propagation
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team
  • Demonstrated analytical and computer skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with technical reporting and presentation experience
  • Must be a US Citizen
Intermediate Level Additional Qualifications:
  • 3 - 10 years of related experience
  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Engineering, Applied Optics, Instrument Physics, or related field
  • Interdisciplinary familiarity of electro-optical systems including, optical, electrical, software, thermal and mechanical disciplines
  • Experience with data acquisition techniques, software, and instrumentation
  • Experience with data analyses and relating results to physical quantities
  • Written report and/or 1st author professional paper generation experience
  • Demonstrated technical leadership experience
Senior Level Additional Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Intermediate level skills
  • Understanding of science objectives/requirements and ability to flow down to instrument and calibration requirements
  • Experience mentoring engineers and technical staff
  • Experience with performing technical trade-studies including technical, cost and schedule considerations
  • Proposal experience
  • Strong mix of technical skills and technical management/leadership experience
  • Strong system engineering skills (coordinate and lead engineering teams)
  • Ability to work multiple tasks in parallel
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Fourier Transform Spectrometers, blackbodies, optical alignment test equipment, theodolites, and optical wavefront interferometers
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as IDL, MATLAB and/or python
  • Experience using Mathcad
  • Experience with operation of vacuum chambers and cryogenics
  • Experience with optical analysis tools such as Code V, ZEMAX, OSLO, and/or FRED
  • Experience with E-O sensor calibration (planning, testing, analysis, reporting, etc.)
