Electrician

Work under the supervision of the Electrical Supervisor and work effectively and cooperatively with staff, administrators, and contractors. Provide leadership and technical assistance to others. Train others in the work of the unit. Keep accurate records. Give clear and concise instructions.

Lay-out, assemble, install, test, analyze malfunctions, and repair electrical fixtures, control equipment, and wire communications. Ability to read, interpret, and work from wiring diagrams, schematics sketches, drawings, and blueprints.

Learn characteristics of new systems and equipment of the electrical trade and update skills to adapt to changing technology.

Job Duties:

  • Determine most efficient work procedures and techniques for assigned staff to ensure timely completion of electrical projects, and make sure that safety standards and procedures are followed.
  • Lay-out, assemble, install, and repair electrical panels and fixtures.
  • Install wires and cables in conduits.
  • Install, test, maintain and replace electronic controls for electrical and power apparatus.
  • Maintain electrical hand and power tools and equipment to ensure their safe and efficient operation.
  • Estimate job costs and prepare material lists and job records.
  • Provide supervisor with technical input on electrical work concerning planned construction and work projects in progress.
  • Assist in the planning and developing modifications to existing electrical systems.
  • Assist in the inspection of electrical work performed by other workers.
  • Assist in developing diagrams, and blueprints related to electrical work being completed.
  • Provide training to personnel assigned to unit.
  • May schedule and oversee the work of other building trade workers assigned to unit.
Special Skills:
  • Electrical codes and Control wiring.
  • Knowledge of classified equipment, Class 1, Division 1, 2, ATex, IECex Preferred
Work Experience Required:
  • Three plus years in related HVAC/Electrical Field Preferred
