Description:

In this role you will be supporting and working under the Transmission and Distribution group doing electrical engineering and primarily focusing on telecommunications projects related to power utility systems (substations, transmissions systems and distribution systems.

Responsibilities will consist of the following:

-executing on designs of telecommunications systems independently and within in a team structure while interfacing with customers and internal partners.

-Work closely with senior engineers and under the supervision of a department manger and project manager.

-Execute design packages that are scoped by the project manager: Creating a scope of work, bill of materials, and wiring diagrams.

-Project lengths will vary between a couple of weeks to a couple of months long at any given time.

Key areas of project scopes:

-Telecom projects focusing on Networks, Integration, and automation designs on some or all of the following: Multiprotocol label switching (MPLS), Dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM), SONET, carrier ethernet (CE), ROADM, channel banks, multiplexer, T1

-Supporting grid modernization, network engineering, rural broadband projects, private LTE projects, and long haul fiber optic projects primarily related to the modernization of utility substations.

Certifications preferences that are nice to have: NRS1 (MPLS certification), CCNA (Cisco certification)

Nice to have: Multiprotocol label switching (MPLS), Dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM), SONET, carrier ethernet (CE), ROADM, channel banks, multiplexer, T1 experience, but client will train in all of these areas as they are not used on every project or needed.

preferred to have someone that has worked for a engineering service firm, network provider, or power utility company directly before. Experience working with junior engineers in a mentor or training capacity.
