ELECTION SUPPORT SPECIALIST
This is an opportunity to be engaged in the election process!

Lancaster County Voter Registration
The Department of Elections is searching for a professional who has a desire to be engaged in the Elections process. This individual will play an integral part in carrying out and conducting election in Lancaster County.

Examples of Duties

This office manages all Municipal, County, and State Elections.

  • Provides technical assistance, organizational planning, and back up to Registration and Elections office
  • Directly oversees and conducts the preparation of all electronic equipment and software used in conduct of all elections. This will include machines and E Poll Books.
  • Maintenance of machines including quarterly charging of all machines
  • Assists with Candidate Filing.
  • Performs general clerical work as required
  • Assists in processing absentee ballot requests and walk-in absentee
  • Manages and completes special projects, tasks, and programs as assigned by the Director
  • Assists in pre-election, Election Day, and election night tasks including distribution and collection of equipment
  • Inventory control before and after elections
Additional duties will include attending workshops and training provided by the State Election Commission. Must obtain certification through the South Carolina State Election Commission which includes core courses, management/leadership courses, professional development courses, as well as election electives. Assessment test are administered requiring minimum test results of 80%.
Knowledge, skill, and abilities
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in conveying information clearly to citizens, professionals, and County departments
Requires lifting of 25 pounds on a regular basis
Must be highly organized, detail and task oriented, and possess ability to work independently with limited supervision
Ability to follow directions with strict rules and regulations
Ability to stand for long periods of time as required

Interact with candidates, political parties, civic organizations and the general public in such a way as to represent the Election Services Director as a non-partisan position.

Typical Qualifications

Education and training equivalent to two years of college education in business administration, management, Information Systems Management, or closely related field. Experience may be substituted for education. Must possess valid South Carolina Driver\'s License. Salary: Negotiable Apply online at
