JOB SUMMARY

Working under the supervision of the Director, Manager and Physician. The ECHO Tech performs quality echocardiographic studies as ordered by the providers as well as the performance of all other non-invasive cardiac procedures within the Cardiology Department. Echo Tech is responsible for coordinating ultrasound in exam rooms, preparing and accurately documenting ultrasound imaging, maintaining the integrity of equipment/supplies and other duties as assigned.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
  • Assists physicians when performing special procedures
  • Maintains adequate stock of supplies in the ultrasound room
  • Demonstrates competence in performance of echocardiographic studies
  • Performs echocardiographic studies considering the age-specific physiological, emotional and cognitive needs of the patient
  • Consistently performs quality Doppler and color Doppler Exams
  • Acquires quality Stress Echo and Dobutamine images according to physician and benchmark standards
  • Performs quality Trans esophageal echocardiograms according to physician expectations
  • Maintains competence in all other procedures performed in the Cardiology Department
  • Interpretation, reporting, communication and documentation of studies
  • Demonstrates understanding of cardiac disease processes in order to obtain complete acquisition of images for clinical diagnosis by reading cardiologist
  • Reports pertinent information or changes of patients condition to physician, nurse and/or supervisor incorporating age-specific information
  • Has a basic understanding of acquired images
  • Reports findings and concerns to reading physician for prompt interpretation
  • Records preliminary interpretation of studies on patient worksheet incorporating age-specific information. Documents patient information and processes reports accurately and timely
  • Notifies the reading cardiologist of any referral studies to be read
  • Performs all related processing required for each completed study
  • Educates patients and/or patients family regarding procedures performed and communicates effectively with patient and/or family
  • Uses the electronic health records system with accuracy and enter patient charges
  • Uses equipment and departments resources appropriately
  • Assists registration/scheduling staff with accurate scheduling of patient appointments
  • Covers on-call schedule as assigned following departmental procedures
  • Maintains equipment including cleaning and disinfecting according to procedure
  • Identifies problems with equipment and notifies appropriate resources for diagnosis and repair and assists with evaluation of new equipment
  • Ensures that expenditures for job related activities are within budgetary constraints
  • Maintains confidentiality of all personnel and patient care and relations information
  • Ensures superior ongoing patient satisfaction and customer service
  • Demonstrates efficient time management and prioritization skills
  • Maintains professional standards related to clinical environment
  • Maintains a personal education file and is able to speak on accomplishments during annual performance appraisal
  • Practices fiscal responsibility and accountability
  • Actively participates in the Quality Program as demonstrated by participation at department staff meetings and active involvement in performance improvement projects
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities while remaining calm, focused and professional
  • Adheres to CCMH and Campbell County Clinic policies and procedures
  • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
  • Complies with the hospital\xe2\x80\x99s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
  • Education
  • Graduate from an accredited program of diagnostic medical sonography
  • Licensure/Credentialing
  • Credentialing by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred at time of hire, however, registry must be complete within one year.
  • Experience
  • 1 year experience in Ultrasound imaging preferred
  • Pediatric cardiovascular experience preferred
