We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Teacher to join our Early Learning Center team. This role is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about fostering a child-centered learning environment based on Montessori principles and the whole-child development approach. The Assistant Teacher will support the lead teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can develop their intellectual, emotional, social, and physical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
? Assist the lead teacher in implementing Montessori-based curriculum and educational activities that encourage curiosity, independence, and a love for learning.
? Support children in individual and group activities, providing guidance and positive reinforcement.
? Foster an environment that respects each child's pace of learning, promoting self-directed exploration and discovery.
? Help maintain an orderly, organized, and inviting classroom, including preparing materials, cleaning, and ensuring safety standards are met.
? Observe children's developmental progress and share observations with the lead teacher to support individualized learning goals.
? Assist in the development and execution of lesson plans that incorporate Montessori philosophy, including practical life, sensory, language, math, and cultural activities.
? Encourage and model social skills, communication, and emotional regulation in all interactions with children.
? Support the development of each child's independence, self-esteem, and problem-solving skills.
? Build and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and fellow staff members.
? Assist in supervising children during indoor and outdoor play, lunch, nap times, and other activities.
? Attend staff meetings, professional development workshops, and engage in continuous learning to stay current with Montessori principles and early childhood education practices.
Qualifications:
? Must be at least 16 years old. Have a passion for working with young children and supporting their holistic development.
? Experience working in early childhood education, preferably in a Montessori setting.
? Knowledge of Montessori principles and practices is highly preferred, or a willingness to learn.
? Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
? Strong organizational and time-management skills.
? Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a nurturing, inclusive environment.
? A patient, compassionate, and respectful attitude toward children and their learning processes.
? Montessori certification or coursework is a plus but not required.
? Each individual at least 16 years of age who is living, working, or regularly volunteering in the facility shall have a record of a negative tuberculosis test or x ray obtained not more than two years before the date of employment or initial application for a license or not later than 30 days after the date of employment or initial application.
Physical Requirements:
? Ability to engage in physical activities with children, including sitting on the floor, bending, and lifting.
? Ability to walk, stand, and supervise children for extended periods of time.
