Job Description


Position Summary:

Supervises DSP department. Responsible for the below stated responsibilities, and acts as the project leader for developing and monitoring trainings for DSP/DSP Supervisors.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in a related human services field preferred. Associate degree required in the field of Human Services, Special Education, Liberal Education, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, nursing or a closely related human services field required.
  • Five or more years of experience in a health or social services work setting.
  • Successful supervisory experience required.
  • A clear understanding of Developmental Disabilities as a whole.
  • Development, and monitoring of trainings required which are to be in compliance with State and Federal/YKHC regulations.
  • The understanding of the cross-cultural environments and differences, and a good knowledge of YKHC organizational programs preferred.
  • Act as a strong and positive role model with the willingness to travel throughout western Alaska locations.
  • Prefer Yup\xe2\x80\x99ik/ English speaking but not required.
  • Tuberculin clearance at time of employment and annually thereafter.
  • CPR, First Aide required or willing to complete the class.
  • Office equipment (i.e. computer, multi-line telephone, fax machine, copy machine, scanner, laptop and docking port, and a digital camera).
  • Leadership and proven administrative skills and abilities.
  • The ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations.
  • The ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals, and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, consumers, staff, and the general public. The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Have the ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics\xe2\x80\x99 is required.
  • Have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and have the ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram forms.
  • Supervises the DSP Supervisors.
  • Calendar/ scheduling of appointments, meetings, and training for DSP Supervisors, Administrative Assistant, and direct support professionals in the villages when deemed necessary.
  • Ensure that each assigned consumer has adequately trained provider to provide the appropriate requested support services in accordance to his/her funded support plan.
  • Provide for probationary and annual performance evaluation for each DSP Supervisor and Administrative Assistant.
  • Provide a copy of all personnel evaluation to the Administrator annually.
  • Develop and maintain personnel files and supervision documentation at least once a month on all staff directly supervising.
  • Make sure that all DSP Supervisors are documenting and supervising Direct Support Professionals in the villages successfully.
