We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges. As a DSP, you will provide essential care, support, and companionship to residents in various settings such as assisted living facilities, group homes, or home and community care environments. Responsibilities
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
Monitor patients' vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior
Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA confidentiality standards
Support residents with meal preparation, cooking, and nutritional needs to promote healthy living
Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts and resident lifts to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance
Maintain detailed documentation of patient care activities, observations, and progress notes in compliance with privacy regulations
Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs, including dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or memory care requirements
Engage residents in social activities and provide emotional support to foster a positive community environment
Ensure a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
Skills
Proven experience working in assisted living, home health, nursing homes, or group homes with a focus on senior or disability care
Knowledge of patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs accurately
Familiarity with medication administration protocols and HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
Strong understanding of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, autism support, hospice care, and memory care strategies
Ability to lift heavy objects safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts; physical stamina for long shifts involving mobility assistance
Excellent communication skills for working effectively with residents, families, and healthcare teams
Basic first aid certification along with CPR training; ongoing commitment to safety standards such as HIPAA compliance
Experience assisting with complex needs including working with people with disabilities or developmental challenges
