Position Title: Domestic Violence Prosecutor

Provo City is looking for a part-time contract Assistant City Attorney in the Legal Department to handle Domestic Violence Prosecution. Qualified, civic-minded individuals are strongly encouraged to apply.

Pay Rate: This position is grant funded and will pay $31.55 per hour. Payment will be by direct deposit.

Essentials Duties: The individual appointed to this position will be required to do the following: research legal issues and provide legal opinions; represent the City in court and hearings; negotiate on behalf of the City; conduct and supervise legal research; draft complaints, motions, pleadings, statements, written subpoenas, and responses; argue cases and motions in court or before administrative bodies; prosecute misdemeanors which involve evaluation and investigation of facts; interview witnesses; prepare for trials; provide leadership as needed to junior professional staff members, and perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements: Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school and Utah State Bar membership. Preference given for experience, particularly in municipal government.

License: Valid, lawful driver\'s license is required at time of appointment. Applicant may be disqualified on the basis of an unacceptable driving record as reflected by the State Department of Motor Vehicles
