Position Summary

Student Legal Services empowers PSU students to succeed in their academic endeavors by providing access to justice. We address legal issues that impact students\' educational and career goals through legal advice, representation, mentorship, community partnerships, and education.

The Director/Managing Attorney of Student Legal Services provides assistance to students with legal problems and/or questions by providing legal advice, representation, or referral. This position is responsible for promoting and modeling teamwork and the establishment of an inclusive, collaborative, service-oriented multicultural environment. The Director manages an office that is responsive to student needs and provides relevant services directed toward resolving impediments to student learning and success. This role serves as the direct supervisor to the professional staff at Student Legal Services.

This is a 1.0, 12-month, exempt appointment, renewable subject to funding and satisfactory performance.
Minimum Qualifications

  • JD from accredited law school
  • 7+ years of legal practice experience
  • Oregon State Bar membership
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an urban university environment with a diverse student population.
  • Experience supervising staff and managing the delivery of legal services.

Work Days/Hours Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, some evenings and weekends as required.
Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement

Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity. The starting annual salary for this position will be between $94,476 and $115,740, but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
