Director of US Transportation and Fleet Management
We are looking for a Director of US Transportation and Fleet Management for Pilgrim\xe2\x80\x99s that reports into our Corporate Office in Greeley, Colorado.

We are looking for an experienced Transportation Director to be responsible for overseeing the logistics of Pilgrims transportation-related activities. This position requires exceptional leadership skills and must maintain Pilgrims high standard of service.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the domestic transportation department.
  • Leadership of transportation department territory managers, analyst, and freight planners.
  • Plan, organize, and manage the team to ensure work, KPI\xe2\x80\x99s, and budgets are in alignment with the company\xe2\x80\x99s mission.
  • Cultivate relationships with sales team, plant personnel, carrier base, receivers and other key business partners.
  • Collaborate with the transportation team to formulate and implement transportation-related procedures as well as company expense goals, freight budgets, and customer service objectives.
  • Maintain carrier performance - on time delivery, communication, service levels, freight rates, and capacity.
  • Manage strategic timing and organization of transportation RFPs.
  • Manage cost, service levels, driver count, and drop trailer pools of dedicated fleets based in GA and TX.
  • Review and approval of live operations carrier contracts.
  • Provide support to plant and live operations for emergency preparedness and recovery items such as emergency fuel, trailers, and trucking capacity.
  • Educate team and company leadership on current industry forecasts and trends.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of transportation related experience
  • Minimum 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 leadership experience
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree preferred
  • Solid knowledge of the transportation industry and logistics
  • Strong organizational skills and time management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical thinking skills, strategic planning, and understanding of analytics
  • Works well under pressure
  • Good conflict resolution skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook
  • SAP knowledge preferred
  • Solid decision making and problem solving skills
  • As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. Unless otherwise specified in this posting, the amount of travel may vary and the most qualified candidate must be willing and able to travel as business needs dictate.

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $120,000-$160,000; and
  • Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company\xe2\x80\x99s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
