The Director of Operations manages and oversees four areas of The Arc's daily operations: 1) Facility Management, 2) Vehicle Fleet Management, 3) Technology, and 4) Administration. In this role, the Director is responsible for ensuring efficiency, productivity, and alignment with strategic goals, while also leading and developing teams.
The Director works cooperatively with others; treats their team members and others with dignity and respect; focuses on solving conflict proactively and positively; aids others when needed; recognizes The Arc's culture and incorporates the mission and core values into daily activities; understands that they are part of ONE team to accomplish ONE mission.
Responsibilities
Provide leadership and direction to the Operations team. Guide the team in executing plans and initiatives that align with the mission of the organization and departmental goals.
Collaborate with executive leadership to define organizational strategic priorities, goals and the annual budget. Ensure department goals and objectives support the mission, vision and strategic direction of the organization.
Work in partnership with the Development department to secure capital grants for facilities, technology, fleet, and related operational needs.
Manage procurement of vendors for operation and maintenance of assets, including the negotiation of contracts and deliverables.
Oversee asset management and building security, including but not limited to, space planning and equipment needs.
Manage special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams.

Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans and lead projects related to the areas under management.
Problem-Solving:
Proven strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to analyzing operational issues, identifying root causes, and developing effective solutions.
Communication:
Proven excellent communication and interpersonal skills applied to building strong relationships and fostering collaboration with internal and external partners.
Financial Acumen:
Understanding of financial principles and budgeting.

Experience:
Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in management (or related fields). Five or more years of experience in management and operations in a nonprofit (preferred) setting. The ability to successfully complete all The Arc of Howard County required trainings. Experience in the field of disabilities preferred.
