REPORTS TO: Managing Director of Teacher Development

POSITION TYPE: 12-month

START DATE: Immediate

COMPENSATION: $80,942 - $99,154

THE OPPORTUNITY

YES Prep needs a dynamic Director of New Teacher Development with a diverse set of experiences and masterful system management to make our mission a reality. To put it simply, this role requires a master influencer who will leverage relationships, relentless communication, and a keen eye for data and systems to accomplish mind-blowing results in teacher certification and professional development participation within Teaching Excellence. You will be an influential goal setter, achiever, progress monitor, and project manager who collaborates with personnel at various Houston districts to ensure the 350+ Teachers going through Teaching Excellence are on the pathway to certification.

THE ROLE

When you join the YES Prep team, some of the exciting work and responsibilities will include:
  • Setting a vision and planning for expanding teacher development in year 1 at YES Prep, including in depth content mastery, world-class instructional coaching, and best-in-class teacher development opportunities in collaboration with the MD of Teacher Development;
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the Texas Administrative Code (TAC), to ensure ACP program compliance;
  • Developing and maintaining systems to progress monitor Instructional Coach and Manager of Coaching and Learning follow-through with certification requirements;
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure internal YES Prep alignment of certification and early-career teacher development programming;
  • Overseeing and/or facilitating ongoing professional development targeted at teachers in their first year at YES Prep, including but not limited to Induction, Teacher Development Saturdays, and New Teacher Academies;
  • Creatively expanding upon the opportunities for new teacher development at YES Prep;
  • Applying expert level influence strategies, management, and coaching of directs and teams to create mind-blowing results in teacher development;
  • Maintaining expert-level knowledge and skill in research-based development of new teachers, especially new to the profession;
  • Amplifying the impact of instructional coaching for new teachers at YES Prep and partners by tightening the correlation between assessment of new teacher effectiveness and their classroom instruction performance evaluation, ultimately leading to exponential student growth;
  • Directly interfacing with campus and Home Office leaders to monitor program progress,
  • Directing Priority School support as needed, designing and executing upon differentiated supports aligned with teacher development and certification;
  • Additional duties as assigned.

THE MUST HAVES
  • Bachelor\'s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
  • Valid Texas teacher certification or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience
  • Proven track record of improving outcomes
  • Previous program management experience and team leadership
  • Experience as an instructional coach or teacher evaluator
  • Outstanding record of organization, and attention to details
  • Masterful communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
  • Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
  • Ability to work urgently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and initiatives at once

- This position is an exempt, salaried position; offers commensurate with experience.
