Compensation for this position starts at $65,500 annually and may increase with relevant work experience and transferrable skills

Position Summary:

The Director/Business Deposit Development is responsible for the development of new commercial deposit relationships throughout the credit union network. Responsible for reviewing and proposing market supported changes to the credit union\xe2\x80\x99s existing and emerging business deposits product line to drive business deposit growth for the credit union. Seeks new sales channels to grow business deposit balances, relationship and to meet member needs.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for members and colleagues; ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive member experience.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • New Business Calling Effort: Pro-actively identifies, develops and builds NEW profitable relationships with members consistent with the objectives of Treasury Services and the Credit Union to retain and deepen member relationships.
  • Prepare a Relationship Plan and calling schedule for each member or prospect in conjunction with the strategic business development program. Identify business opportunities and solicits referrals for Treasury Services or other Credit Union products or services from existing customers, a network of referral sources, and other professionals in the industry.
  • Key position responsible for Commercial deposit balances growth.
  • Develop a strong understanding of company, industry, business and needs to assist in member calling efforts. Set objectives for each relationship in terms of revenue/deposit contribution, etc.
  • Retention Calling Efforts: Actively works with existing members and develops prospects consistent with the Treasury Service business strategy to expand existing relationships and deposits to the Credit Union
  • Manage and support existing products, new product development, in-depth knowledge of products, and support of sales initiatives through product training. Facilitate new product training and support.
  • Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to enhance, and manage commercial deposits products to meet the credit union\xe2\x80\x99s funding needs and increase profitability.
  • Represent the Credit Union by actively participating in outside civic and community affairs, business and industry-related organizations, and other professional activities as appropriate. Including trade shows, lunch and dinner association meetings as required for successful marketing of the Credit Union business deposit efforts.
  • Coordinate with operations functions to establish quality standards for delivery of deposit(s) accounts.
  • Prepare complete packages for new/revised deposit accounts and work with internal members to execute documents.
  • Open new/revised accounts within core system according to all Credit Union policies and regulations.
  • Define responsibilities and coordinates objectives for all deposit product areas in a relationship or transaction. Resolve all member needs and any internal issues.
  • Maintain and update systems with sales calls for prospects and members. Monitor and analyze relationship results and account activities. Determine member profitability. Make a recommendation regarding accounts to be further developed or eliminated. Prepare reports for management including providing monthly expense reports with proper detail.
  • Maintain awareness of competitive products, practices, rates and changes in market conditions.
  • Analyze problem areas and meets with member to develop solutions to minimize loss exposure.
  • Manage the workflow/process to achieve an efficient and productive result
  • Understand and adhere to all Credit Union, DFIS, NCUA, Compliance and Marketing standards, policies, and procedures especially business deposit related.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Additional Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Overnight and local travel to branches and other locations to meet member needs within the State of Michigan as necessary.
  • Overnight and local travel to instate and out of state business related conferences, business development functions and other activities related to business relationship/development work.
Qualifications Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in sales or sales development in financial company.
  • 1 year of leadership experience.
  • Excellent presentation and communications skills required.
  • Strong analytical skills, project management, and product management experience.
  • Demonstrated business acumen.
  • Proven successful goal setting and achievements.
  • Proficiency using Excel and Word.
  • Capable of working well independently and in teams.
  • Has the ability to work autonomously in making sound business decisions and exercises appropriate level of authority commensurate with experience and responsibility.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
Qualifications Preferred:
  • Bachelor\'s degree.
  • 1-3 years relationship management of Treasury Services Deposits based clients/portfolio in a financial services company
  • 1-3 years of Treasury Services / Treasury Deposits product sales and new business development in a financial services company
  • Minimum of four years product management and development experience, preferably within the financial industry.

Working Conditions:

This position works in-office. Work requires an appropriate work environment in the home. In-office working conditions are normal. Lighting, temperature, audio, and work space are all sufficient. Work requires the ability to constantly operate a computer and the ability to read, type, and communicate. Work also requires lifting up to 10 pounds of work-related supplies.
