The client is currently seeking a Director of Investment Accounting for their New Jersey headquarters. This remote-hybrid position requires presence in the office three days a week, allowing for remote work on the remaining days. As the Director of Investment Accounting, the individual will interact with and support various aspects of accounting, financial analysis, and reporting for the group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform accounting and reporting of investments based on GAAP and Statutory guidelines.
  • Assist in managing the monthly and quarterly investment close process.
  • Prepare and/or review various U.S. statutory investment schedules.
  • Prepare and/or review investment footnote disclosures.
  • Support local reporting of foreign branches and subsidiaries.
  • Coordinate with financial reporting and investment management teams.
  • Prepare standard and ad-hoc reports for senior leadership.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls.
  • Research accounting issues related to new investment structures and coordinate necessary workflow and operational changes.
  • Assist in reviewing fair value of investments and conducting impairment analysis.
  • Provide monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses, including account reconciliations.
  • Support ad-hoc analyses and strategic projects as directed by senior management.
Work Experience and Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, with preference given to candidates with experience in public accounting and public company reporting environments.
  • Solid understanding of investment accounting and reporting under U.S. GAAP.
  • Experience in U.S. insurance statutory accounting and reporting is advantageous.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop staff.
