Responsibilities
The Director of Student Retention, Equity, and Outcomes provides leadership, expertise, and a strong equity-minded perspective on data management and strategic initiatives related to student retention, academic success, and timely degree progress. The Director will provide strategic thinking and student support for student success offices, with a shared responsibility for retention tracking, reporting and communication, integrated assessment, professional development, and the design and implementation of strategic initiatives in the division of Academic Success. The Director will also manage the coordination of a complex system of student academic data using GaelXpress/Colleague, SLATE, Canvas, Curriculog/Acalog College Catalog, Bluenotes, and PowerBI, in addition to collaborating with other offices, programs, and divisions on improving graduation and assessment outcomes through professional development, student intervention strategies, and transparent processes. In all this work, the Director of SREO will report to the Vice Provost of Academic Success, work closely with the Academic Success directors to lead the division, and will be a key member of the Academic Affairs Data Governance Steering Committee under the direction of the Vice Provost of Institutional and Educational Effectiveness.

1. Strategic Leadership: The Director will oversee the strategic vision and planning for programming, training and professional development, and plan strategically using enrollment and assessment data.

Develop a comprehensive student milestone tracking protocol to be used in coordination with enrollment reports, grade data, and degree benchmarks; and disaggregated demographically to target support.

Create a vision for inclusive and equitable institutional policies and best practices to facilitate student access to resources and opportunities that most impact their academic achievement and the quality of their educational experiences.

Plan, convene, and lead committees, working groups, and workshops within and beyond Academic Affairs as they reflect the interests of students, the division of Academic Success, and the scholarship and praxis of advising, retention, and student success in higher education.

Act as primarily liaison between Academic Success and AIS, and other institutional departments/divisions.

Design and lead outreach and support for students to graduation completion.

Suggest and support programming initiatives based on data and student experience to support access, retention, and completion, as part of the IE and Academic Success leadership teams.

Oversee the strategic implementation of the Equity in Opportunity Fund (and other donor/grant resources). Lead a team to design, grow, and implement resources and services in support of student access, basic needs, and equity in their opportunities and experiences, including the process for distributing special funds and resources to students.

Data Governance Team: In collaboration with the Institutional and Educational Effectiveness division and other relevant campus partners:

Work with the Data Governance Team as an Academic Success division liaison to bring its division\'s priorities, concerns, and needs;

Establish and maintain data validation and reliability on both direct and indirect data and measures related to student success benchmarks and outcomes;

Member of Census validation team, collaborate on a workflow to maintain valid student and course census data;

Plan strategic approaches to collecting and analyzing student academic success and outcome data;

Identify bottlenecks in data governance and workflow on student success and outcome data collection, analysis, presentation, and use for intervention.

Research best practices on data use and analysis, particularly from a DEI lens, to support data-informed decision making at the College-level.

Retention, Equity, and Professional Development: In collaboration with the VPAS and Academic Success directors, create a culture of data-driven student retention, graduation, and post-graduate success.

Create and maintain a student tracking system from first-year and transfer onboarding through first-destination (including significant benchmarks, obstacles, and opportunities for intervention).

Partners with Advising on the Retention Alert system, coordinating system data management and reporting as needed to support retention and student success assessment and strategic initiatives.

Design and coordinate consistent professional development resources, experiences, and opportunities for staff related to awareness, skills, and strategic programs in support of student retention, equity, and success.Work as part of an assessment team to coordinate administrative department reviews, measure progress on institutional learning outcomes and strategic plan implementation goals, and evaluate the efficacy of student retention, graduation, and career outcome initiatives.

Create reports and presentations for the campus community to provide timely and transparent data sharing, engaged partnership, and inclusive investment in strategic and student-focused goals.

Oversee documentation, archiving, and tracking of assessment, strategic initiatives, and college processes, including in Confluence.

College Catalog and Curriculum Management System:

As the College Catalog manager, the Director will oversee the process and timeline for updates and revisions of all College Catalogs (undergraduate, graduate, transfer, Jan Term, Summer Session).

Work with the chairs of the UPEC and GPSEPC to coordinate a clear and timely process for receiving and reviewing approved curricular changes.

Communicate with the campus community on the timeline and scope of Catalog revisions and processes.

Support deans, chairs/directors, and administrative staff with Curriculog and Acalog to revise the catalogs.

Coordinate with Vice Provost of Academic Success, Provost, relevant senior administrator(s), and/or the Academic Senate leadership to resolve questions related to academic policy or issues of external compliance.

Professional Development

Attend training and workshops on-campus or externally to bring in creative or diverse perspectives on the strategic vision and operations of the Academic Success division; the college-wide commitments to student success; and the Lasallian institutional prioritization of diversity, equity, inclusion, & belonging (DEIB).

Explore opportunities for personal and professional growth, such as serving on committees or participating in training and experiences that fall outside this position but may build related competencies and skills, or a broader range of experience and cross-training needed to pursue growth in this position and preparation for future opportunities.

Maintain active professional engagement in professional organizations that support growing technical and strategic competencies, and build professional networks.

Strong critical thinking skills, detail-oriented, ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, understanding of advising and/or counseling approaches in higher education-either by education or experience, ability to navigate and learn complex systems independently, interpersonal skills, ability to multitask, excellent written and oral communication skills. Multicultural competencies; ability to work with diverse populations.
