POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Admissions oversees all admissions activities for CIIS and leads all personnel in the Admissions Office, directing the strategic priorities and day-to-day recruitment and admissions operations for admissions staff, based on goals and recruitment cycle, and in alignment with the university\'s strategic plan. The Director collaborates with the Dean of Admissions to develop recruitment strategies and implements these recruitment strategies with the Admissions Team, to meet strategic enrollment targets for all CIIS academic programs. Further, the Director oversees the application process and collaborates with faculty and staff to ensure the highest quality of student enrollment services for the University.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitates the outreach mission of CIIS in collaboration with the Dean of Admissions to strategically increase enrollment with a focus on recruiting a diverse and qualified study body. Represents and communicates the value of a CIIS education and the university\'s seven commitments, in alignment with the university\'s strategic plan
  • In consultation with the Dean of Admissions and Assistant Director of Enrollment Operations, develops data-driven recruitment plans and implements recruitment and outreach activities in order to meet enrollment targets for CIIS bachelor\'s, master\'s and doctoral programs
  • Provides leadership and direct management of Admissions Office employees, with a focus on team-building to ensure high performance standards and excellent customer service. Leads regular team meetings, staff retreats, and meets with staff individually to maintain morale and ensure the Admissions Office is working collaboratively toward the aim of increasing enrollment
  • Hires and oversees the training of Admissions Office staff, with a particular focus on training admissions counselors, to ensure their ability to best represent CIIS when communicating with prospective students
  • Ensures high customer satisfaction with admissions processes
  • Provides leadership in developing, implementing, and continually assessing the strengths and opportunities for on-campus visits and tours, virtual events, and student-centered recruitment events. Working with the Admissions Manager, supervises the successful hosting of annual university-wide admissions recruitment events and represents CIIS at recruitment events. Collaborates with the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and the Marketing & Communications team to develop, plan, and coordinate events that support the University\'s seven goals, as articulated in its strategic plan, CIIS@60
  • Oversees the admissions process, including the processing and evaluation of all applications in slate and supervises decision-processing staff. Ensures adherence to Admissions Office policies and upholding of admissions standards and requirements
  • Utilizes available data to appropriately track progress through the enrollment funnel to reach annual goals and discusses strategies with Dean of Admissions
  • Identifies and addresses training gaps, potential personnel issues, and ensures that the department is functioning as efficiently as possible. Conducts annual performance evaluations of staff
  • Represents and communicates the value of the seven commitments and the CIIS pedagogical approach to prospective students and the admissions team
  • Collaborates with the Email Marketing Specialist, the Assistant Director of Enrollment Operations, the Dean of Admissions, the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and the Marketing & Communications team to ensure a sophisticated and targeted communication strategy
  • Utilizes the university\'s CRM Slate to monitor communications with the prospective student base, tracks and responds to shifting engagement trends, and works with the admissions team to innovate and improve upon current communication strategies
  • Strategizes with the Assistant Director of Enrollment Operations and the Dean of Admissions to ensure that team members uphold data standards and best utilize the prospect database and qualify prospects via calling campaigns and other recruitment activities
  • Collaborates with the Dean of Admissions, the Assistant Director of Enrollment Operations, and the Marketing and Communications team to produce relevant marketing materials and advertising campaigns related to the recruitment and enrollment of new students
  • Works in concert with the Financial Aid Office, the Division of DEI, Student Services, the Registrar\'s Office, and other departments to ensure that prospective students are able to receive relevant information that can help with their enrollment decision

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • B.A. required, M.A. preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in higher education admissions (or a related field)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic initiatives and priorities for a team
  • Experience supervising or managing professional staff
  • Proven leadership and keen willingness to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented office
  • Experience developing innovative and effective student recruitment initiatives, particularly with a focus on recruiting a diverse student body
  • Strong equity lens, cultural humility, and proven ability to work well in a diverse context.
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills, as well as interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to present information in various formats to effectively communicate cross-generationally and cross-culturally with a variety of audiences
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision, and to establish priorities, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and follow through and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to direct a team, building and retaining cooperative and collaborative working relationships while performing responsibilities.
  • Strong experience using technology, databases, and reports to analyze data and make data-driven decisions
  • Familiarity with Slate CRM and digital marketing and strategy is a plus.

WAGES AND BENEFITS

Salary range $86,000 to $92,000

  • Working Conditions -- Duties are primarily performed in an office environment at a desk or computer terminal, typically Monday through Friday.
  • Background Check -- Due to the sensitivity and requirements of this position, you should expect to undergo and be cleared of an employment background/criminal check, if extended an offer for employment. You may also be asked to provide proof of educational degree(s), licenses, or credentials pertinent to the position. If your job requires driving on behalf of CIIS you will be required to provide proof of a valid driver\'s license.
