Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Drive Company EHS Performance: Lead and influence EHS performance and priorities across US collaborating with business to achieve strategic objectives. responsibility for occupational safety, environmental management, ergonomics, workplace injury and the security of all US sites.
Lead the EHS team and drive initiatives that foster the "all injuries are preventable mindset" to create an injury free workplace.
Identify, evaluate, and disseminate best practices to drive continuous improvement.
Partner with manufacturing sites, and affiliate offices to address complex EHS challenges, provide technical expertise, and foster a culture of shared learning.
Mentor and Develop EHS Teams: Provide mentorship and training to site EHS organizations, fostering a strong safety culture and enhancing technical expertise. Support performance management program.
Oversee EHS Planning and Risk Management: Participate in the development and review of EHS plans and risk portfolios, ensuring alignment with regional and global strategies.
Monitor Regulatory Landscape: Stay informed of emerging regulatory developments and influence EHS strategies to maintain compliance and mitigate potential risks.
Manage EHS Governance: Oversee the EHS governance process, ensuring effective communication and data flow between senior management, sites, and the EHS function.
Ensure focus on Contractor Safety and influence EHS elements during the projects or task.
Participate in the design and delivery of learning opportunities for personnel with the purpose of strengthening the Safety Culture leading to an interdependent culture.
Support/Lead investigations of accidents, incidents, and near-misses, ensuring timely corrective actions and accurate documentation.
Ensure readiness for regulatory inspections and represent the company during audits, interacting with regulatory officials.
Effectively communicate and ensure compliance with: company policies and procedures; training requirements; accident reporting procedures; Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) directives; Lockout/Tagout/Try procedures; Confined space entry procedures; the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); and Environmental policies. Ensure conformance with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 requirements.
Review all capital projects for environmental, health and safety compliance, waste disposal and permitting impact.
Assemble and analyze safety & health statistics and trends. Disseminate and interpret data to recommend action to improve company's overall safety performance.
Manage all OH&S activities, direct Occupational Health Nurse and incorporate her supporting function to achieve goals
Workers Compensation: Monitor W/C incidences, statistics and cost. Recommend areas for improvement
Ensure compliance of regulatory standards as they apply to all fire suppressant systems, boiler & pressure vessels, machinery; coordinate internal audits and communications.
Oversee and provide the resources needed to have a well-trained and effective ERT, Ergonomics and Safety Committee
Promptly communicate changes in regulatory compliance to management; Develop and implement effective safety and health training programs. Manage all OH&S activities, direct Occupational Health Nurse and incorporate her supporting function to achieve goals
