Overview

We are seeking a skilled Directional Drill Locator to join our team in the oil and gas industry. This position requires expertise in operating heavy equipment and a strong understanding of pipeline installation through horizontal drilling techniques. The ideal candidate will have a background in construction and mechanical knowledge, ensuring safe and efficient operations on construction sites.

Duties

Operate directional drilling equipment to accurately locate pipelines during installation processes. Collaborate with project managers and crew members to ensure project specifications are met. Conduct pre-operation inspections of heavy equipment, including excavators, forklifts, and water trucks, to ensure safety and functionality. Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and safety standards on construction sites. Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve issues with drilling equipment as they arise. Document drilling progress and maintain accurate records of operations for reporting purposes. Assist in the training of new team members on equipment operation and safety protocols.

Requirements

Proven experience in heavy equipment operation, specifically with directional drilling machinery. Familiarity with pipeline installation processes and horizontal drilling techniques. Strong mechanical knowledge to perform maintenance and repairs on drilling equipment. Prior experience working on construction sites, particularly within the oil & gas industry. Valid commercial driving license (CDL) preferred for operating tanker trucks as needed. Ability to operate various types of heavy machinery including Caterpillar equipment, excavators, and forklifts. Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to construction site safety is essential.
