Direct Support Professional - No Nights, No Weekends!

Summary:

The Direct Support Professional supports participants in our Adult Day Services by engaging with the participant in daily living activities and conducts group and individual activities.

Tasks:

• Work as part of a team to provide an inclusive and respectful environment
• Guide participant toward goals as outlined in the individual participant plan
• Supervise ability-specific recreational activities
• Plan activities within the customized life skills program
• Assist consumers with personal care as needed
• Prepare meals or snacks and cleaning as needed; provide environmental safety and sanitation
• Maintain confidentiality, tactfully communicate with participants, families, visitors, team members, co-workers, and leaders
• Participate in meetings and relevant training
• Practice environmental safety and sanitation
• Support the Adult Day Services management team
• Share in meaningful community activities

Observe, maintain daily records, and report changes in participant\'s condition to the manage * Perform other duties as assigned, as needed to fulfill the mission of the organization.

Direct Support Professional\'s Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Indiana driver\'s license and proof of insurance
• Comfort and experience working with people with a variety of abilities.

Direct Support Professional\'s Knowledge, Skill and Ability

• The Direct Support Professional must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and be able to professionally communicate information, respond to questions, and maintain emotional control
• Must have a high level of emotional maturity and control
• Direct Support Professionals physically assist participants including pushing and manipulating wheelchairs
• Must work independently and as part of a team
• Must take personal responsibility having good judgment, patience, and flexibility in their work schedule
• Direct Support Professionals are accepting of people, non-judgmental, non-prejudiced, and highly motivated.

Direct Support Professional\'s work schedule:

Monday through Friday

Flexibility in work hours depending on client needs and current census. Typically, 40 hours per week, eight hours per day, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Will consider part-time employment if remaining hours can be filled by a second part-time employee.

Will consider a job-share situation.
